There is a more of a trend toward homemade party favors today than there ever has been. Whether you're a bride looking for the perfect wedding favors for your guests or you're hosting a baby shower or planning a graduation party, party favors will be on your list of things to do.

Homemade party favors give the party host a way to express their own creativity, add some extra special personalization to the favors and save money, all at the same time, something that obviously can't be done when you're buying the same off-the-rack favors that everyone else is buying.

Obviously, when you've decided on homemade party favors, it isn't something that you put last on your party planning to-do list. It's actually one of the first things you do as far as shopping for the craft supplies you'll need to make your favors.

You also want to avoid feeling frustrated and rushed to make your favors. You want to have fun and even ask some of your friends or family to help you with the project, depending on how large a party you're having or how many guests are on your list.

If your best bargains for craft items are going to come from an online store, you want to give yourself enough time for these items to ship plus enough to make the favors once all of your supplies have arrived.

Now, just about all favors have to be packaged in something. Whether you're giving candies or cookies or you've created some unique wrappers for candy bars, putting them in a container of some kind just makes the presentation that much more special.

Packaging Your Homemade Party Favors
Bags and boxes are probably the easiest types of containers to make yourself. It just requires some cardstock and glue or some heavy duty double stick tape, and some ribbon for handles for the bags or to tie around the box.

For favor boxes, once you've printed your template onto the cardstock, simply follow the template instructions for cutting, folding and securing the box in place. You can purchase cardstock in a variety of colors so they'll match your party theme.

After your boxes are assembled and the favors are added inside, decorate them up and tie ribbon around them!

Bags for homemade party favors can be made out of scrap fabric and either hand sewn or done on a sewing machine, depending on how large or small the bags are. Or you can simply buy little organza bags to put your favors in, then pull the drawstring and you're all set.

So what do you put into your creative containers?
Again, the ideas are endless! Think about the theme of your party and the ages of the guests. Sometimes the simplest favors are the best. For example...
